Pinter & Martin Acquires Manhood: The Bare Reality
Pinter & Martin Acquires Manhood: The Bare Reality by artist and author Laura Dodsworth
Independent publisher Pinter & Martin is pleased to announce the acquisition of Manhood: The Bare Reality by Laura Dodsworth, the photographer and author of critically acclaimed Bare Reality: 100 women, their breasts, their story launched in 2015.
A ground breaking collection of 100 intimate photographs and interviews with men, Manhood explores themes of masculinity, gender and sexuality, offering a unique insight into what it means to be a man in the 21st century.
From veteran to vicar, from porn addict to prostate cancer survivor, men from all walks of life share honest reflections about their bodies, sexuality, relationships, fatherhood, work and health.
Laura says, "After creating Bare Reality I felt drawn to exploring men’s stories and their relationships with their bodies. I’m excited about this book, I don’t think people will have heard men talk so honestly about so many fascinating subjects. Masculinity is associated with being ‘strong and silent’, yet here is a book of 100 men talking frankly and intimately about their ‘manhood' and manhood.”
Martin Wagner, Managing Director at Pinter & Martin says, "We are thrilled to be entrusted by Laura with the follow-up to her ground-breaking Bare Reality. Manhood is truly extraordinary!”
Laura Dodsworth’s innovative and acclaimed Bare Reality: 100 women, their breasts, their stories has been featured widely across the media including The Guardian, Daily Telegraph, Cosmopolitan, BBC Radio 4 Women’s Hour and ITV Loose Women. Laura and the Bare Reality project were invited to collaborate with fashion designer Stella McCartney on her breast cancer ‘No Less A Woman’ charity campaign in 2015.
In a deal direct with the author Pinter & Martin have acquired world rights. Manhood: The Bare Reality will be published as a paperback original in June 2017 priced £14.99 (eBook £9.99) with an accompanying publicity campaign.
