Milky Moments

A beautiful book for children and their families, Milky Moments celebrates the joy of childhood and mothering, and normalises breastfeeding as a part of day-to-day life.

Delightfully illustrated scenes are complemented by lyrical rhyming text that gently draws the reader into the lives of the families depicted. The hand-painted illustrations are set in a variety of locations including a playgroup, a shopping trip, parks, hospital and at home. The children’s ages range from newborn to 5 years old, baby and child breastfeeding positioning is accurate and realistic, and the love and attention to detail in the book were inspired by the guiding principles of the La Leche League and the author’s own personal experience.

Inspirational, intimate and fun, Milky Moments is not only a book to treasure, but also a book that will educate and inform on the importance and normality of breastfeeding – however old you are.

beautiful book - for those of us who do Bf & those who don't too!

Posted by Kerry Rushton Hinchliffe on 27th May 2015

"Milky Moments" is a picture and rhyme book for babies, toddlers, young children and their parents and carers. It depicts natural term breastfeeding and our 28 months old little girl was so pleased to see pictures of tiny, little and a bit bigger ones feeding the way that we feed. The lady who wrote the book, and the illustrator have obviously put a lot of work into it. It is a delight for those who like us are intending on natural term breastfeeding and I'm sure many others will love it too. It's so beautifully illustrated with lots of extra little aspects to entertain little ones once they have listened to the rhyme on the page. Our little girl is so eager to find 'Eric the bear' on each picture as well as picking out other items from the border in the main illustration. Nope, I'm not on commission - I just love it & so do my older children (aged 13y & 11y). They read it to their little sister. My partner was pleasantly surprised by the book - we both welled up at the same point re a baby born poorly but milky helped make her strong!). I believe that this book isn't just for those who are presently breastfeeding. It would make a lovely addition to your little one's library - either to discuss a time when you did breastfeed or to show your children who didnt breastfeed or those in your care the full picture. That some babies feed from their mothers just like other mammals. What a lovely learning opportunity to share. Enjoy :-)

A wonderfully gentle, honest, inspiring & positive breastfeeding journey. My 22 month old loves the illustrations and I love being reminded how beautiful, natural and normal breastfeeding is. Perfect for families, breastfriends groups and as a gift. Highly recommended. Thank you!

    Milky Moments

    What a fabulous read!
My daughter was thrilled to see all the 'happy children' having their milk in such a simple, normalised (whilst beautifully illustrated) way.
Also incredibly comforting for an older sister coming to terms with a new brother breastfeeding when she no longer does.

Both Ellie Stoneley and Jessica D'Alton Goode have together created a real gem of a book in Milky Moments. It appeals to parents and children alike, with rhymes and illustrative detail that will continue to captivate as it is read over and over again.

    Beautiful!

I love this book! It is just beautiful and the artwork is amazing, alongside lovely verses to read to your baby, toddler and older child. The way it weaves breastfeeding into the normality of life is wonderful and the accuracy and reality of breastfeeding at all ages, newborn, toddler, nursing when pregnant and nursing a walking, talking icecream eating toddler, makes it such an encouraging book. It's just gorgeous and I love it!

    A marvellous read for all!

Introducing the topic of breastfeeding to children (and parents) in a heart-warming and informative way, Ellie uses her own experiences to help bring this book to life!

Exquisite artwork compliments the text beautifully. In fact, I've already had one friend buy it for her daughter and new born.

A must for all libraries.
