This book is so beautiful.
The story is lovely and the pictures really compliment it.
I wish there were more children's books available like this that normalize the most normal thing in the world.
I am so happy my little boy has this book to grow up reading.

Beautiful written story of a conversation of the heart between mother and child. The illustrations are really touching and complement the story so well. I would love to see a board book version for my local pre-school.

Awesome

Itís hard to think of a more enjoyable and important book for my children. Itís fun, beautifully written and takes the reader on a 24 hour journey that any parent will empathise with immediately. The rhyming makes it easy to remember, and keeps the imagination and attention of the little one. Perhaps most importantly, Milky Moments normalizes the magical moments of breastfeeding, which are too often taboo in our society. As a dad, I couldnít think of a more natural and nourishing act, and I am delighted that more mums and dads will feel empowered to talk about their own milky moments as a result of this book. And our children will grow up strong on the inside as well as out. Milky Moments should have its own spot on every small personís bookcase.

Felt like an autobiography
Wednesday, 3 June 2015  |

Our nearly 3 year old loves the book - it reflects the everyday normality of his life. Beautiful illustrations and gently rhyming text with the additional pleasure of being introduced to the families at the end. (Since he always asks "who that" after meeting people in shops it was nice to ask him to find the characters in the book). Highly recommend.

So much crammed into one book!
Tuesday, 2 June 2015  |

We love it! The book follows several families as babies or toddlers are breastfed, on outings to the beach or the shops, as the family waits for a new baby to arrive or celebrates an ill newborn getting stronger and leaving the hospital, at a birthday party or just eating a family meal at home. There are older siblings who appear to have weaned and families with just the mother shown. The ethnic backgrounds of the characters are also diverse. So much crammed into one book! The rhymes don't feel forced as I find children's books often are, and the illustrations are beautiful. The characters are all named at the end, and we were delighted to find that two had the same names as my nurslings. There's no 'goal' to this book, like trying to help children night wean or prepare for a younger sibling: it just celebrates many different aspects of normal, everyday life for a breastfeeding family.
With so much thought over the illustrations, you won't get bored reading this again and again (and again!) - there's always something else to spot. My 15 month old can point to Eric the bear on every page now, and my (nearly!) 3 year old loves finding new details, like the cupcake from the birthday party that was given to the Mum in the hospital with her baby. The only downside to this book is that my kids (who want it read every time they breastfeed... and who breastfeed a lot still!) often feel the need to unlatch and tell me things about what they're seeing... and we can all imagine how that ends!

Beautiful book
Saturday, 30 May 2015  |

I received my copy of Milky Moments and from the front cover artwork, I was hooked.

The beautiful illustrations of mother and child evoke such feelings of warmth and love. My daughter and I began looking at the book together and I just loved the introduction page, telling the reader that they will read about families just like theirs.
As we read through the book, we came to see that this was indeed true. So much so that as we turned each page,my daughter would excitedly proclaim that the child in each picture was her!
We both loved spotting Eric the Bear in each scene, something which my daughter has become an expert at having read it several times now!

The rhyming verses depict nursing in several familiar settings, each one highlighting the loving and nurturing experience that breastfeeding can provide.
The illustrations are a perfect accompaniment to the text; I look at them and feel they have been created with such care and love. The detail is extraordinary and the depiction of breastfeeding is accurate.

Something I particularly enjoyed was how there wasn't a heavy emphasis on 'breastfeeding'; it was just so naturally included in various ️️lovely scenes that children could easily identify with.

It's just beautiful. I don't just like it, I love it. The words capture everything I've ever wanted to tell my children about breastfeeding. The book makes it so special and yet so normal-not an easy feat.
I particularly liked the nursing whilst pregnant scene and the tandem nursing at the end.
Just wonderful. My daughter's favourite pages are the toddler group, the cafe and the biscuit scene. Probably because they all have biscuits!
I have recommended this book to various friends and I am so happy that a book which accurately portrays breastfeeding as a normal part of family life has been written so beautifully. If I could give it six stars I would.

Our new favourite bedtime book that will be treasured for many years.

beautiful book - for those of us who do Bf and those who don't too!

"Milky Moments" is a picture and rhyme book for babies, toddlers, young children and their parents and carers. It depicts natural term breastfeeding and our 28 months old little girl was so pleased to see pictures of tiny, little and a bit bigger ones feeding the way that we feed. The lady who wrote the book, and the illustrator have obviously put a lot of work into it. It is a delight for those who like us are intending on natural term breastfeeding and I'm sure many others will love it too. It's so beautifully illustrated with lots of extra little aspects to entertain little ones once they have listened to the rhyme on the page. Our little girl is so eager to find 'Eric the bear' on each picture as well as picking out other items from the border in the main illustration. Nope, I'm not on commission - I just love it & so do my older children (aged 13y & 11y). They read it to their little sister. My partner was pleasantly surprised by the book - we both welled up at the same point re a baby born poorly but milky helped make her strong!). I believe that this book isn't just for those who are presently breastfeeding. It would make a lovely addition to your little one's library - either to discuss a time when you did breastfeed or to show your children who didnt breastfeed or those in your care the full picture. That some babies feed from their mothers just like other mammals. What a lovely learning opportunity to share. Enjoy
