Bare Reality: 100 Women, Their Breasts, Their Stories

Last few hardbacks in stock - new paperback edition coming March 2019.

100 women bravely share un-airbrushed photographs of their breasts alongside honest, courageous, powerful and humorous stories about their breasts and their lives. Women from all walks of life took part, aged from 19 to 101, sized AAA to K, from Buddhist nun to burlesque dancer. Their perspectives and experiences are revealing and profoundly moving. Intimate, visually refreshing, maybe even surprising, Bare Reality will make you reconsider how you think and feel about your own body, and those of the women in your life.

    Bare Reality

A unique book with a wide range of personal stories that serve to illustrate the special nature of women and their honest view of their bodies. A book that provides an insight that no man could have begun to guess at and which served to provide me with that refreshing, truthful view. Brilliant book, beautifully presented with brave women to enlighten all.

    Completely unique

I've been keeping my copy of Laura Dodsworth's Bare Reality on the coffee table, just to amuse myself really. It's a big book with a lot of naked-chested women on the front, and I have had different reactions from various visitors. If they are curious enough to open it, most people are quickly absorbed into the stories of the 100 women who talk candidly to Laura about their breasts.

Just as breasts come in all shapes and sizes, so do our feelings and stories about them. Bare Reality includes a lot of thoughts on breastfeeding, sexuality, and feminism; and a good mixture of people who like their breasts and people who do not. The headless photographs force the reader to see only the breasts, but the accompanying narrative tells a much bigger story, challenging the contradictory social norms of beauty and prohibition.

Bare Reality shows you 100 perfect, beautiful women and gives a completely unique insight into their perspectives.

This is a wonderful book to gradually work your way through, although be warned it's hard to put down. The author has done a wonderful job of giving a good cross section of opinions on a topic that desperately needed a more balanced and less sexualised voice than it typically gets in the media these days and reading the stories of women from all walk of life is endlessly fascinating and has prompted many discussions within my own circle of friends and family. This book should be handed out in schools, more Bare Reality, less airbrushing please!
